In 2012, the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeitY) released the Electronics and Information Technology Goods Order requiring certain electronic goods to be registered under the BIS Compulsory Registration Scheme.

CRS BIS in India – Eligibility Criteria

2. A unique CRS number is needed for production at a different plant.
